Since its founding, Performa has transformed the intersection of contemporary art and the performing arts with its visionary biennial and commissions, changing the understanding of performance by visual artists across disciplines and making artists directly accessible to the public. The Performa Biennial will continue this legacy with a series of new live outdoor commissions by Kevin Beasley, Ericka Beckman, Sara Cwynar, Danielle Dean, Madeline Hollander, Andrés Jaque, Tschabalala Self, and Shikeith.

Departing from Sandra’s show Spectral Keepers at The Approach, the conversation will touch upon subjects and matters which informed her latest productions such as ancestral beekeeping, black plasticity, tulle fabric and how-to-become-invisible-with-green. Mostly focused on the artist’s sculptural practice, it will also deve into her video practice, on and off screen.

Sara Cwynar is awarded the 2020 Shpilman Photography Prize by the Israel Museum.

The Israel Museum, Jerusalem (IMJ) proudly announced Sara Cwynar as the Shpilman International Prize for Excellence in Photography winner, awarded every second year. This new prize was initiated In recognition of photography as a leading contemporary cultural medium, by the Shpilman family and the Shpilman Institute for Photography together with the Israel Museum, with the joint objective of cultivating original work in the field of photography.
