Showing Hana Miletić Patterns of Thrift in the main space and Tom Allen The Promise in The Annexe.
Online conversation between Hana Miletić & Diana Campbell Betancourt.
2 June 2021
For this event, Diana and Hana will share their experiences of textiles. Understanding textiles as carriers of migrating connections, they will recall their acquaintances with weavers who they recognise as storytellers of ideas and forms across space and time. Picking up threads from Hana’s exhibition Patterns of Thrift currently on show at The Approach, the conversation will engage the ancestral practice of weaving to relate manifold matters such as care, repair, labour and multispecies collaboration. During the conversation Diana and Hana will ruminate more specifically on some examples of the non-violent harvesting of silk in an attempt to answer the question: in a market economy, how is it possible to behave like the living world is an invaluable gift?
