Amanda Ross-Ho’s sculptural work encompasses a diverse range of media. Her exhibitions typically combine the handmade with the readymade. Industrially-produced objects are often copied using artisanal skills, scaled up, reproduced and repeated.

This exhibition presents a new body of work inspired in part by Charlie Chaplin’s political comedy ’Modern Times’, made in 1936 during the great global recession. The installation takes the form of a factory floor dedicated to the production of oversized garments. Ross-Ho’s surreal, theatrical environment collapses and inverts notions of time, labour and economy.

The exhibition is Ross-Ho’s first institutional solo exhibition in the United Kingdom and was originally commissioned by Bonner Kunstverein, Germany and Vleeshal, Middelburg, and generously supported by Kunststiftung NRW, Volksbank Bonn Rhein-Sieg and the Mondriaan Fund.
